Before install Reaper on Ubuntu, we have to do a few things.
Let's do this!
1. Add user to audio group
First of all we need to add user to audio group. To do this write in terminal:
sudo adduser user group, for me it looks like:
sudo adduser suchy audio
Press enter and type password if needed
2. Install low latency kernel
Now it's good to install low latency kernel. It's not necessary, but it's very helpfull to work on Reaper with it.
For install low latency kernel:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-lowlatency linux-headers-lowlatency
Now we can install Grub customizer to easy manipulate versions of kernel.
For install Grub customizer:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install grub-customizer
The highest kernel in "advanced option for ubuntu system" is your default kernel. Reboot after changes.
3. Grab Wineasio
The easiest way to do this, is add kxstudio repo and grab some debs from them.
# Install required dependencies if needed sudo apt-get install apt-transport-https software-properties-common wget # Download package file wget https://launchpad.net/~kxstudio-debian/+archive/kxstudio/+files/kxstudio-repos_9.4.1~kxstudio1_all.deb # Install it sudo dpkg -i kxstudio-repos_9.4.1~kxstudio1_all.deb
# Install required dependencies if needed sudo apt-get install libglibmm-2.4-1v5 # Download package file wget https://launchpad.net/~kxstudio-debian/+archive/kxstudio/+files/kxstudio-repos-gcc5_9.4.1~kxstudio1_all.deb # Install it sudo dpkg -i kxstudio-repos-gcc5_9.4.1~kxstudio1_all.deb
After this, we need to update and install our new programs.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wineasio
sudo apt -get install cadence
Now we have to register our new library
regsvr32 wineasio.dll (for 32 bits system)
wine64 regsvr32 wineasio.dll (for 64 bits system)
Restart system after all.
Now you can start cadence for run
wineasio server.
Download (Windows version), install and run Reaper.
In audio preferences you should choose
wineasio.
Now you have fully working Reaper.
I currently have Windows 10 on my computer for a number of reasons.
But ... I'm still in love with Linux! Now I'm trying to create the perfect KODI version for all my needs.
Thanks for these years. GOOD LUCK!
